I haven’t gone to Hawaii but I have watched several videos of the island and currently watching the ones from Nick Johnson (youtuber who films mostly the bad areas of the US states)… Hawaii is not even cleaner than Puerto Rico. Homeless tents everywhere. I am living in PR and while it is certainly not perfect, it seems better in every way than Hawaii. And PR is bigger, it has much more variety than the Oahu island, and as long as rich people move to the already expensive areas like Dorado Beach, Palmas del Mar or coastal Rio Grande, we won’t be as expensive as Hawaii

I just wanted to say that I got the Hero Clip after watching this video and I just took it on a trip that I took with my kids and my mom and sister and 2 little great-nephews. There was a lot of walking and keeping up with 3 small children and I used the clip to hook my water bottle onto my backpack. Then when I was in the restroom at the aquarium several times, I could just pop the hook part out and hang my backpack and water bottle on the door, which did not have any hooks on it. I have had it all of a week and I love it already!

This may work for some. However, to be budget friendly you can’t just decide you are going to buy items in a touristy place, foreign country, or on a cruise ship. Secondly, I am, and many others are allergic to ingredients in some shampoos, lotions, conditioner, sunscreen etc. Of course I’m going to take my own toiletries to avoid spending my vacation in misery. Thirdly, there are not many items that I would us a contact case amount of. While this all sounds like good advice I don’t feel it’s really the best practice - especially for me.

TSA agents are the bullies of the airports. Pre-check gets you through security faster without having to deal with all the issues people in the normal line have to deal with. Worth the money

I know it doesn’t take up much room but why not wear the compression socks so it cuts down on hassle to put this on at the airport. Just a thought. 🤷‍♀️

When dealing with Federal agencies it goes a long way NOT to piss address them by their actual title. Border Patrol are agents. CBP & TSA are officers (NOT agents). Trust me. It really makes difference. 😋

Just a heads up, for at least Toronto (but possibly for North America) due to possible fraud we don't do payments via the phone as we need to verify the card holder before many charges. A cc auth form is possible but those are checked also before it's accepted (front desk agent)

I recently booked accommodation through Bookings and it was very clear that payment was due about 5 days prior to my arrival. I then received communication through Bookings from the 'hotel' saying they needed a deposit paid and directing me to a 3rd party as " the payment couldn't be made through Bookings" I didnt pay then got "a gentle reminder". I cancelled the booking which is unfair to the hotel but did give me the opportunity to tell Bookings why I had cancelled it.

Such great advice!! One other one... Use a REPUTABLE travel advisor. Make sure you have a one on one conversation with your agent and ask questions like, "Are you IATA or CLIA certified?". If you do, they will usually arrange the transfers, send you a link to the official government site for those tourist cards. Been doing this for 20 years and I do the credit card and ATM thing. Exchange rates are usually pretty similar.

Trust, but verify. I have lived by this motto my entire life. Never assume things are what they seem. I usually utilize ATM machines as well, but I prefer them to be indoors and out of general public view. Many times, I have seen people sit at a cafe watching others looking for the unsuspecting victim. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

Italy has become more stringent. I had to throw away quite a bit of my liquid bag because I packed in a quart gusseted bag and it was not allowed. They wanted a regular ziploc quart that didn't quite seem a quart size.

OH, money I'm nervous about all this! My own memory was way back in 1973 at a refreshment stand just outside Venice....guy tried to gyp me and I caught him screwing with the lira! He sheepishly gave me the right change!

Keep in mind, in case of fire when flying, American Association of Pilots suggests clothing low in synthetics. “polyesters burn like plastic…they burn and melt. The larger the percentage of polyester in the fabric, the greater the similarity to burning plastic. In a sense, if you're wearing high polyester blend garments and you're exposed to fire, you're wearing napalm.” It melts into your skin.

You look great in blue - no need to apologize for wearing it a lot! I’m not in love with the shacket as it is just way too baggy on you. And so sorry, but the blue striped pants, as someone else has said, look a lot like pajama bottoms - maybe try them with dressier shoes? And I’m with you… denim on denim is hard to pull off! Great job with this video - you’re so down to earth and sincere. You’ve definitely inspired me to go shop my own closet, along with trying out some of the things on your link lists!
